Jamie Stillwell — Bachelor of Advanced Science — University of Auckland

Jamie is an asexual person who graduated from Albany Senior High School (ASHS) in 2023 with aspirations to be a university lecturer and theoretical physicist.

They have achieved a lot in their three years at ASHS: Other than excellent academic results, they have co-founded, led, and participated in many clubs and committees, including Tabletop Club, Rainbow Committee/SAGA (Sexuality and Gender Acceptance), ASHS Shakespeare Company, and others.

They were a Senior Production Member and primary cast member in ASHS Shakespeare Company’s The Tempest in 2023 (nominated for several awards by Auckland Showdown). On top of this, they have been a member of GirlGuiding NZ since 2015 and have won many awards and badges for their community involvement and leadership skills. Through GirlGuiding, they led, organised, and participated in a Share for a Cure fundraiser. They also completed over 100 hours of community service in one year while in school full-time and working weekends.

Looking into the future they dream for themself and seeing little to no people representing them has led Jamie to be a community-focused go-getter with big dreams of bringing more non-binary and LGBTTQIA+ people into the scientific community.
