What is GiveOUT Day?
GiveOUT Day is a national day of awareness raising and giving to LGBTTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, takatāpui, queer, intersex and asexual people, plus further identities) projects, community groups, and not-for-profit organisations.
Donations to LGBTTQIA+ organisations on GiveOUT Day are doubled by GiveOUT and our sponsors. GiveOUT Day works to increase the capacity of the LGBTTQIA+ sector and provides LGBTTQIA+ organisations with the opportunity to build awareness of their causes, raise funds for vital services, promote equal rights and provide much needed relief and resources for the community. The Rainbow New Zealand Charitable Trust has a long history of giving back to the LGBTTQIA+ community. Since its founding in 1999, the Trust has donated over $450,000 to fund a broad range of LGBTTQIA+ organisations, services, events, projects and initiatives.
The principal objective of the Trust is to actively fundraise and attract sponsorships, donations and bequests in order to maintain a fund available to build strength through diversity within the LGBTTQIA+ community in New Zealand.

Participating Charities
InsideOUT Kōaro
InsideOUT Kōaro is a national charity providing education, resources, consultation and support for anything concerning rainbow and takatāpui communities. Working with youth, whānau, schools, community groups, government agencies and workplaces to help make Aotearoa safer and more inclusive for all rainbow people. InsideOUT Kōaro’s vision is for all rainbow young people in Aotearoa New Zealand to have a sense of safety and belonging in their schools and communities. Their two-part mission is:
1) To work with youth, whānau, schools, community groups, youth services, government agencies and other relevant organisations to provide safer schools and communities for rainbow (LGBTQIA+) and takatāpui young people.
2) To foster the building and provision of resources, education, information, hui and relevant tools which work to improve the health, wellbeing and safety of rainbow young people.
Pride Whanganui
A registered charity that is striving to create an inclusive Whanganui for the LGBTTQIA+ community that live in and visit our beautiful city of Whanganui. We are working to establish more resources, create better health care processes, encourage regular events, project a sense of understanding and an eradication of ignorance.
Qtopia
Qtopia’s vision is for all rainbow people to thrive in a society that supports, celebrates, and treasures them, and for Aotearoa to be a leader in wellbeing outcomes for our LGBTQIA+ whānau. Qtopia offers support and professional development in Ōtautahi Christchurch and across te Waipounamu the South Island to anyone looking to better support their LGBTQIA+ rainbow staff, customers, clients, patients, and whānau. Also offering peer support, to help all trans and non-binary people in Waitaha Canterbury, regardless of age. Qtopia can help you on your journey of gender recognition, support you with your wellbeing, and connect you with the wider community.
Rainbow Wellington
Since 1997, Rainbow Wellington has provided support and advocacy on human rights issues for the rainbow community by operating as a membership association and registered charity.
Rainbow Wellington provides a range of benefits and opportunities to corporates, individuals, organisations and community partners, through networking and social events.
Rainbow Pride Auckland
Rainbow Pride Auckland organises and runs the Auckland Rainbow Parade. An annual event celebrating the diversity and resilience of New Zealand’s LGBTQIA+ community. The parade pays tribute to the heroes who fought against AIDS in the 1990s, and honors the LGBTQIA+ advocates, representatives, and trailblazers who have paved the way for us all. Funds raised in this year’s GiveOUT Day will go towards next year’s Auckland Rainbow Parade. The Auckland Rainbow Parade will be held on Saturday 17th February 2024 on Ponsonby Road, Ponsonby.
Charlotte Museum Trust
The vision of The Charlotte Museum is to preserve, collect and exhibit the objects, items, ephemera and herstorical content on lesbian sapphic women who love women, the lesbian cultural experience and the historic lesbian communities of Aotearoa. Our museum, gallery, research library and archive preserve lesbian culture for the benefit and understanding of future generations. We provide a safe and welcoming space for anyone interested in finding out about and enjoying our herstory. The museum also undertakes and supports research in topics on LGBTI+ communities. And we often host exhibits and 'pop-up' museums in other places. Learn more about what we are doing and how you can get involved.
Rainbow Auckland
Since 1984, Rainbow Auckland has been New Zealand’s largest LGBTTQIA+ membership association providing support and advocacy on human rights issues, and safe, inclusive business networking opportunities for the rainbow community in the Auckland region. Membership is open to business organisations, community groups, business owners and executives, professionals, academics, diplomats, politicians, media, artists and entertainers, and non-LGBTTQIA+ members who actively support the Rainbow business community in Auckland. Rainbow Auckland host regular mixer events, social and professional networking, and support LGBTTQIA+ projects and activities in the Auckland region.
Adhikaar Aotearoa
An Aotearoa where LGBTQIA+ people of colour, particularly South Asians, can be themselves, free of fear and stigma, and explore their potential while challenging discrimination against them. What they do?
Adhikaar Aotearoa do lots of things such as preparing reports, delivering community workshops across the country, meeting and offering support to people from all different walks of life, and documenting queer lives through practices of deep and empathetic listening with a profound aspiration to make a difference. Everything that we do is in pursuance of our vision and fall into the following three pillars of engagements.
Rainbow Games
Get ready to experience a celebration of diversity, hauora and athleticism like no other! The Rainbow Games Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland 2024 is coming to the Trusts Arena (and surrounding venues) in April 2024. This brand-new multisport event is designed for the LGBTQI+ communities and its allies, a chance for everyone to come together, celebrate and compete in a safe and supportive environment. It’s an opportunity to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes and create a more positive and accepting society.
Indian Origin Pride NZ
Indian Origin Pride NZ (IOPNZ) leads the way for LGBTQIA+ people who whakapapa India and their families in Aotearoa New Zealand to take pride in their identity. Through education, peer support, engagement and events, we work with Indian community leaders and organisations to ensure that our historically traditional and conservative community is inclusive of rainbow diversity and addresses issues that queer people face.
Body Positive
Body Positive provides a broad range of services for people living with HIV in an attempt to break down the sense of isolation HIV+ people often experience and to build a sense of community.

Ethnic Rainbow Alliance
Established in 2022, Ethnic Rainbow Alliance is a platform to bring together LGBQTIA+. individuals and organisations from under represented groups. Our mission is to build relationships, expand collaborations within communities with the understanding we are stronger together. Funds to be raised to expand our outreach to community, events, conferences attendance, and enable peer support development.
OUTLine
OutLine is an all-ages rainbow mental health organisation providing support to the rainbow community, their friends, whānau, and those questioning. They provide a nationwide, free and confidential 0800 support line for people who want to speak to a trained volunteer from the rainbow community. They also provide specialist rainbow counselling and an Auckland based trans and non-binary peer support service. They have been operating since the 1970s, and currently provide a free peer support phone line, a transgender peer support service for trans and non-binary people in Auckland, and specialist face-to-face and video counselling exploring gender and sexuality for rainbow people across Aotearoa.
Christchurch Pride
Christchurch Pride aims to unite the diverse groups within the LGBTQIA+ community in Otautahi Christchurch and surrounding regions in order to celebrate, increase awareness of, and promote acceptance for our community. The main way we accomplish this is by planning Christchurch Pride Week as well as events throughout the year primarily done though our committee which is made up of a diverse board who all volunteer their time.
The Christchurch Heroes
The Christchurch Heroes Sports Trust which is a charity to promote LGBTQI+ participation in sport by breaking down the barriers of homophobia and transphobia through sports. We provide opportunities throughout the year in different sports codes such as touch rugby, rugby union, running, and swimming.
Nevertheless Trust
Nevertheless Trust is a Māori, Pasifika & Rainbow led Mental Health organisation that aims to support the holistic well-being of our Takatāpui & Pasifika Rainbow+ peoples through delivering our whānau/village focused kaupapa - MANIORO. Currently based in Hawkes Bay & Auckland with intentions of operating across Aotearoa. Nevertheless is fundraising to deliver our Manioro kaupapa across Aotearoa especially within the rural communities and regions outside of the main cities. Manioro means to disrupt/disturb - they aim to disrupt toxic narratives, unhealthy stereotypes and stigma surrounding our communities by educating whānau through storytelling, delivering rainbow competency workshops, sharing identity wānanga in schools, facilitating community events and creating safe spaces which support the holistic development of our Māori & Pasifika Rainbow people’s such as Manioro Nu’u - the Rainbow Hub in Hawkes Bay.
Nelson Pride Inc
Nelson Pride Incorporated is a small committee of hard working, dedicated crew and members who are passionate about creating a welcoming social group for LGBTTQIA+ people. We aim to embrace all who identify as diverse in terms of their sexuality and/or gender, and allies. To achieve this, we run a range of Pride events throughout the year, and an annual Pride event. 2023 was our second Pride Festival and the events at this year's Festival were developed to be as accessible, wide ranging, visible and authentic as possible. In conjunction with key partnerships, and the support of volunteers and sponsors, the events are run by and for our community. We know that representation and events for our community is important because it helps to create a sense of belonging, which helps our aim to improve the wellbeing of our people.
NZ Falcons
Established in 2013, the New Zealand Falcons Rugby Football Club is New Zealand's only home of gay and inclusive rugby union and touch teams. Their kaupapa is to enable both aspiring and seasoned players to come together to participate and enjoy rugby in an open and supportive environment. 10 years on, the NZ Falcons RFC is still New Zealand's only gay and inclusive rugby team, an affiliate with the New Zealand Rugby Union (NZRU), and one of 85 worldwide member clubs of International Gay Rugby (IGR). This year, the NZ Falcons will be taking part in GiveOUT Day 2023.
Wellington Pride Festival
Wellington Pride Festival traces its history back to the first Newtown Lesbian and Gay Fair in 1986, organised as part of the campaign for the Homosexual Law Reform Bill which passed on July 9th, 1986.
Since then, the capital has been home to an array of rainbow festivals and other events which have celebrated, represented, and supported the LGBTQIA+ community in Te Whanganui-a-Tara and beyond.
Burnett Foundation Aotearoa
Burnett Foundation Aotearoa is an organisation dedicated to preventing HIV transmission, combat stigma and maximise the wellbeing of those most affected by HIV. When you give to us, we are able to offer peer led testing services, counselling support and resources for those most affected by HIV across the motu. Burnett Foundation Aotearoa is excited to join Rainbow Give Out Day 2023 and Give it our ALL for our community! Burnett Foundation Aotearoa (formerly New Zealand AIDS Foundation) has been at the forefront of the community response to HIV in Aotearoa for nearly 40 years. Same Same But Different
Samesame But Different is New Zealand’s only LGBTQIA+ literary festival. Every February, during Auckland Pride, Samesame but Different host book launches, panel discussions, live readings, lectures and other events designed to celebrate the creativity of LGBTQIA+ writers in Aotearoa.
LAGANZ Te Pūranga Takatāpui o Aotearoa - Lesbian and Gay Archives of New Zealand
The LAGANZ Te Pūranga Takatāpui o Aotearoa archives are owned by a Trust and housed in the Alexander Turnbull Library of the National Library of New Zealand, Wellington. LAGANZ collects, preserves and makes available for research the records and personal papers of LGBTTIFQ+ people and organisations in New Zealand. For LAGANZ LGBTTIFQ+ means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, takatāpui, fa'afafine, intersex or queer and includes any same-sex attracted, transgender or intersex members of any indigenous community of the Pacific. LAGANZ's goal for GiveOUT Day 2023 is to raise money for a new laptop and specialist tools and software to process and archive our communities' digital content.
