Will  Pretscherer — Cojoint Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts — Vicotria University of Wellington

Will is a 17-year-old trans man from Auckland. In his final years at school, he has both led his high school’s Queer support group and achieved high academically across many areas. He is passionate about music and the arts, and is a talented writer who gained an award for his essay about gender identity in year 12. Will’s experience working in hospitality has also given him a wide range of practical skills and experience. He is independent and driven to achieve his goals,

Sitting two NZQA scholarship exams in year 12, and four in year 13. In 2024, he will study a conjoint degree in biology and classical studies at Victoria in Wellington, where he hopes to continue his community involvement and range of extracurricular interests. Will hasn’t had a simple journey, having to come out twice while attending an ‘all-girls’ high school, but is looking forward to his bright future in the capital city.
