Sorcha

Sorcha Wilkinson is a queer young woman from Queenstown. Growing up in a rural-ish environment, Sorcha faced certain challenges, especially in terms of outside acceptance and openness around their identity. Despite these obstacles, they’ve always been passionate about making a difference.

During high school, Sorcha took an active role in supporting the local LGBTQIA+ community by running Spectrum, the local youth support group alongside the Wakatipu Youth Trust. Their dedication also led to the successful implementation of gender-neutral toilets at their co-ed school, creating a more inclusive space.

Sorcha will be the first in their family to attend university, where they are studying a Bachelor of Creative Technologies. With a drive to use technology and creativity to positively impact the world, Sorcha is excited to face new challenges and continue building her passions alongside like minded people.
