Ryn

Ryn Peni is a proud takatāpui individual who is dedicated to promoting queer rights and representation. They believe in the power of diverse voices across all spaces, from local communities to national platforms. 

During high school, Ryn advocated for LGBTQ+ student rights, creating peer-support programs and working to reduce the stigma surrounding rainbow sexual health. They faced challenges but remained committed to being a role model for others.

During high school Ryn has attended several debate events, most notably New Zealand Model United Nations 2024 where they had the privilege to represent a P5 Nation.

Ryn’s leadership extends to their involvement in the Foxton community. They’ve served as Head Student and International Student Captain of Manawatū College, and Deputy Chairperson of the Manawatū College Education Trust. Currently, they are the Secretary of the Foxton Rugby Club.

In 2025, Ryn will begin studying a Bachelor of Business at Massey University, majoring in Global Communication and minoring in Security Studies. Their goal is to pursue a career in politics and policy-making, where they aim to continue advocating for change and progress.
