Jamie is an asexual person who graduated from Albany Senior High School (ASHS) in 2023 with aspirations to be a university lecturer and theoretical physicist. They have achieved a lot in their three years at ASHS: Other than excellent academic results, they have co-founded, led, and participated in many clubs and committees, including Tabletop Club, Rainbow Committee/SAGA (Sexuality and Gender Acceptance), ASHS Shakespeare Company, and others.

Grace is a dedicated and ambitious queer individual; she is driven by a passion for leadership and learning,. Demonstrating a strong academic background and commitment to excellence, she initiated and led the LGBTQIA+ support group at her school. She also founded and led the Cromwell Youth Trust Pride Council in collaboration with her community's local youth support centre.

Eden de Kriek — Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Music — University of Auckland

Eden initially navigated testing times during their attendance at a Catholic boys' school, as an openly queer student. However, as they progressed into their late high school years, they discovered a community of open-minded individuals who provided the support needed for self-acceptance. Proudly, Eden played a role in assisting younger queer students facing similar struggles in that environment.

Asher Shah

Asher Shah — Bachelor of Design Innovation and Space Science — Victoria University of Wellington

Asher is a young non-binary activist with a love for science and the arts. They attended Albany Senior High School where they created and carried out a national campaign to fight for the rights of young gender diverse students. They petitioned the government to provide funding to all schools for the construction of gender neutral bathrooms. They carried the campaign on for 2 years, partnering with InsideOUT along the way, as well as gaining support from MPs Shannan Halbert, Chloe Swarbrick, and Dr Elizabeth Kerekere. The petition Asher created gained 1310 signatures before they presented the petition at parliament.

Will is a 17-year-old trans man from Auckland. In his final years at school, he has both led his high school’s Queer support group and achieved high academically across many areas. He is passionate about music and the arts, and is a talented writer who gained an award for his essay about gender identity in year 12. Will's experience working in hospitality has also given him a wide range of practical skills and experience. He is independent and driven to achieve his goals.
