Sam is a trans man who has a passion for maths, playing football and is interest in robots and aerospace. A prefect at Tawa College, Sam had many responsibilities including being the 2020 student’s representative on the Tawa College’s Board of Trustees. Sam was also the leader and founder of Tawa College’s Maths Problem Solving Club.
Sam has represented Tawa College in many math competitions and has won several academic awards including The Greg O’Connor Civil award for services to the Tawa Community and School. Sam also has a passion for volunteering as a member of the Volunteer Army club at Tawa College, volunteering in many great opportunities including the Mary Potter Hospice street appeal, Rail Safety Week, and the Spring into Tawa event.
Passionate about the future Sam will be studying a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours (BE(Hons)) at the University of Canterbury. Sam hopes one day to be employed by an aerospace or robotics company.
