Ella Philp – Southern Cross Health Society Scholarship + UBIQ Voucher. Bachelor of Medicine – University of Auckland Medical School

Ella achieved academic excellence in STEM subjects at Napier Girls High School & will be attending Auckland Uni medical school. Ella has a passion to improve medical services for LGBTQI+ particularly the Trans community, following personal disappointment with the medical sector while transitioning & still at intermediate school.

Ella is focused on a Bachelor of Medicine & in preparation worked part-time at Hastings Hospital. At Napier Girls last year Ella was first in school in all subjects incl Physics, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, English & French.

Other outstanding achievements included “Top 25”, Silver medal winner of the Biology Olympiad and participation of the school “Accelerant” programme.

Ella also received two NZQA Scholarships in Biology & French AND received two International Language Scholarships leading to a Student Exchange place in France for a year in 2018.

Ella’s a natural leader and was an Academic Prefect, Growth Coach, Peer Support Leader, founder & co-ordinator of the school book club, & Chair of Napier Council’s “Youth Council”. One of many significant achievements at Council was the creation of the city-wide “DiverCity Celebration” in support of Napier LGBTQI+ youth.
