The Rainbow New Zealand Charitable Trust does an enormous amount of exciting work behind the scenes, raising and distributing funds back to the LGBTQI+ community through Community Grants and sponsorship for the Auckland Pride Parade and Festival. Our third funding stream is the Tertiary Scholarship programme. We’d like to share some of the stories from previous winners starting with Joshua James who was one of our 2012 recipients.
Josh completed his BA in 2015, a Masters of Strategic Studies in 2017, and is about to commence an MA in order to reach his ultimate goal of a PhD and professorship. Josh is currently a Political Science tutor at Victoria University and was recently honoured with a Tutor Excellence Award. You can see the full story here.
The Trust is extremely proud of Josh, his dedication and achievements, and for his commitment in giving back to the LGBTI+ community. Help us continue to nurture the next generation of inspirational rainbow leaders in New Zealand. Scholarships are available to rainbow high-school students for their first year of university and the calibre of applications is absolutely outstanding, making selection a very challenging task. The interview process is a humbling and inspiring experience. Details for the 2018 Gala Dinner and Auction will be announced in the new year – watch this space, and lock it in to help us support many more like Josh into the future. You can also start helping NOW by volunteering a bit of your time and expertise to Rainbow Auckland and help sustain a vibrant membership calendar of social and business events.
